Cambridge Legal Walk

Access to legal advice makes an enormous difference to people’s lives, reducing poverty and suffering. Continuous cuts in public funding for free legal help have had a significant impact on the most vulnerable in society, including victims of domestic abuse, the homeless and asylum seekers.  Whilst we cannot seek to fill the gap left by these cuts, helping vulnerable people must be a priority at these difficult times.

The Eastern Legal Support Trust is a grant-making charity, formed in 2010, to raise funds for free legal advice services in the East of England (Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk). The Trust raises funds by organising sponsored Legal Walks that celebrate the work of free legal advice organisations and the legal profession that supports them. Some of the advice agencies that have benefited from the Legal Walks include Cambridge and District Citizen’s Advice, Norfolk Community Law Service and Herts Young Homeless.

The Cambridge Legal Walk 2018 will take place this year on Monday 11th June 2018 at 5.30pm, sponsored by Fenners Chambers.

Last year, the Cambridge Legal Walk attracted over 100 participants from across Cambridgeshire, including lawyers from Mills and Reeve, Eversheds and the local judiciary. Together, they raised over £4,500 for the sector and this year we hope to top this total!
